Established for over 50 years, we specialise in commercial catering, refrigeration, air conditioning, heating, and ventilation. We support a wide range of customers with reactive call-outs and planned maintenance, tailoring our service to each client’s needs.
We’re now looking to recruit a Trainee Air Conditioning Improver to join our service team, ideal for someone who has just passed FGAS or has experience as a duct fitter / duct cleaner and is looking to progress into air conditioning engineering.
The Role
Working alongside experienced engineers, you’ll support service, maintenance, and installation works across contracts including:
- Hotels
- Restaurants
- Care Homes
- Health Centres
This is a field-based, customer-facing role with full training and development provided.
Key Responsibilities (Training Supported)
- Assisting with servicing, maintenance and repairs on:
- Split Systems
- VRV / VRF systems
- AHUs (Air Handling Units)
- (Exposure to chillers as you progress)
- Supporting planned maintenance visits (filters, belt checks, coil cleaning, basic fault finding)
- Learning to troubleshoot and diagnose AC system issues under supervision
- Completing job sheets and updates via smartphone system
- Ensuring all work is completed in line with health & safety and company procedures
- Supporting reactive call-outs (introduced gradually as confidence grows)
Essential Qualifications / Requirements
- FGAS certificate (recently passed welcome) OR relevant site experience (e.g., duct fitting / duct cleaning) with strong interest in progressing into AC
- Full UK driving licence
- Good attitude, willingness to learn, and professionalism with customers
Desirable (Not Essential)
- NVQ Level 2 (or working towards) in Refrigeration/Air Conditioning
- Basic electrical awareness
- Previous experience on commercial sites (hotels/restaurants/care)
Progression & Development
- Hands-on mentoring with senior engineers
- Training plan to build competence in service, fault finding, and maintenance
- Opportunity to progress into an Air Conditioning Engineer role as skills develop
