Shift Engineer – Multi-skilled (Electrical or Mechanical Bias)
Birmingham, B11
Permanent, 45 hours per week, 8-hour continental shift pattern (includes days, lates, and nights)
We are looking for a highly versatile, professional, and self-motivated individual to join our small but dedicated engineering team. You’ll play a vital role in supporting the smooth operation of a busy industrial laundry facility, ensuring equipment is running efficiently and downtime is kept to a minimum.
This is an exciting opportunity for someone who thrives in a fast-paced production environment and is keen to take on a hands-on role with long-term career prospects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Carry out all planned maintenance in line with the site maintenance schedule
- Respond quickly to breakdowns, carrying out repairs to minimise downtime
- Maintain accurate records of all work for compliance and audit purposes
- Ensure all work is carried out in line with current Health & Safety legislation and safe systems of work
- Communicate effectively with team members, supervisors and management
- Engage in ongoing personal development and training
What We’re Looking For:
- A multi-skilled engineer with either an electrical or mechanical bias
- NVQ Level 3 or 4 in Engineering (or equivalent), with apprenticeship training preferred
- Experience in a high-volume, fast-paced production or manufacturing environment
- PLC knowledge desirable
- Logical approach to fault finding with strong attention to detail
- Proactive attitude with flexibility around shifts and tasks
- Background in laundry, FMCG or similar industries preferred but not essential
